Qualified to help you
Recognised, accredited qualifications.
I originally trained in 1996 with The Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in London. I have subsequently qualified with The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in Manchester and am on the pathway to accreditation with UKCP. I have learnt the Arrow Technique and Quantum Healing protocols directly from their creator, Freddy Jacquin . My knowledge is kept up to date through continuing professional development and personal enquiry. The qualifications speak for themselves, so please look at the ICH, the NCHP and the Jacquin Hypnosis Academy to find out more information about my training.
What the qualifications will not give you is an idea of what I’m like. Therapeutic success is hugely influenced by a good relationship between client and therapist. The relationship is contractual, deep and meaningful. So, it is important that you get a “feel” for the therapist. I have provided enough information on this website to give you an insight into who I am as a therapist. If you are fairly confident that I am someone you can work with before the very first session then therapy has a head start on being successful.
What else can I tell you?
I have lived for well over half a century, so hopefully I have gained a little life wisdom along the way. My BA degree is in Fine Art and during my London years I worked in fringe theatre as writer and performer following many years in HR and recruitment. Following qualification I taught foundation hypnotherapy for the ICH whilst seeing private clients. The return to Shropshire and the advent of children changed my focus to family matters. I have loved being a full time mum doing part-time administration work but my children are now grown up, so I have brushed up my hypno qualifications and return to the work that I love.
The human condition fascinates me. It is my passion. My therapy practice is hung on a framework of recognised training in hypnosis and psychology and my natural inclination toward the arts, storytelling, metaphor, and psychodrama is subtly interwoven into the therapy I offer. Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy and it all boils down to internal and external connection and communication.
Every client receives a totally individualised service from me. No two people are the same, so why would the therapy be?
Hypnosis can be a powerful tool in resolving unwanted feelings and reprogramming intrusive and undermining thoughts. It helps support ambition, solves problems, makes beneficial change possible, halts unwanted habits, and can reduce chronic pain.
The possibilities with hypnosis are as vast as your imagination. It is not magic but its effects can be truly magical. I never cease to be amazed by the results gained through hypnosis. I believe that everyone should spend some time exploring the sub-conscious .
That sounds impossible, right? Surely if you can explore it, it must be in the conscious? It is a tricky concept to bend your mind around. Imagine feeling your way around a darkened, unfamiliar room. Hypnosis allows you to potter in that room and safely help you find the door, bringing some of your findings into the light. It is an imperfect but hopefully helpful metaphor.
Hypnosis is like exercising imagination. We overlook our imagination and yet it is a most powerful tool that we can begin to harness for our own benefit. We say “let your imagination run wild”, I say “run wild with your imagination”. Small difference but the latter describes a collaboration and puts your wants back in the picture.
There is a variety of self-help material in books and online, including the free material and recordings provided here on my website. Hypnosis is a wonderful tool to help enrich your life every day and is a massively useful tool in therapy.
Hypnotherapy with me
Self-help is not the fastest route to dealing with issues and problems and if your need is urgent or complex you may consider professional help. If you are time-poor and seeking a highly personalised, tailored therapy then contact me. Are you at the end of your tether and feel without hope? Then contact me. Have you tried everything else and open to trying something else, then contact me.
Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and issues in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment. My role will be to listen and then provide a hypnosis session created specifically for you and the problems you are seeking to resolve.
I am a person-centred therapist which means I believe we all hold the answers within ourselves. Often our ability to connect with our authentic self becomes damaged or the line of communication blocked in some way. That leaves us stuck, and feeling frustrated, unsure and unhappy. Therapy can help.
